    Morning is the best time to discover the true character of a city. Before the bustle of the day begins, the city reveals itself without pretense, offering its most authentic self.

    2025 In 2025, Royal Explorer embraced the theme "CITY AWAKENING PROJECT." As the city stirred to life, we explored its mornings—from the lively energy of traditional markets and the fragrance of tea plantations to the memories preserved in historic streets; from the rituals of neighborhood salons and the daily rhythm of postal deliveries to the choreography of flower markets and metro stations. Only in the morning can a city’s truest character be seen.

    The Breakthrough Experience

    When we travel the same way every time, even the most beautiful scenery loses its sense of wonder. The journeys worth taking aren’t the ones that follow a formula—they’re the ones that dare to break it.

    In 2024, Royal Explorer embraced the theme “The Breakthrough Experience,” reflecting on the post-pandemic world. As the world reopened, we chose to step beyond the familiar. From urban walking adventures, scuba certification, and Indigenous survival experiences to traditional opera transformations, old-town explorations, technology discoveries, and forest retreats, we rejected one-size-fits-all itineraries in favor of journeys filled with curiosity, spontaneity, and authentic encounters.

    City Treader Project

    In the first year after the pandemic, as the world rushed to return to normal and move forward, we chose instead to look back, take a different path, and venture into the hidden corners of the city. That willingness to move against the current became the inspiration for "Treader”.

    In 2023, Royal Explorer joined hands with eight local guides deeply rooted in their communities to create journeys that ventured beyond popular attractions and away from the crowds. From a barbershop where no one gets a haircut and a kitchen that transforms discarded ingredients into remarkable dishes, to hand-painted cinema billboards and the everyday life of military dependents’ villages, each experience invited travelers to discover authentic connections between people and place.

    Healing

    During the most challenging days of the pandemic, cities fell silent, daily life slowed to a standstill, and travel became a distant hope. Yet amid the uncertainty, we realized that what mattered most was not a faraway destination, but the familiar places and everyday moments that bring comfort and reassurance.

    That realization gave birth to Royal Explorer—a collection of journeys created in response to the pandemic, designed to restore both body and mind. Drawing on decades of local insight, Hotel Royal Group, in partnership with KKday, invited travelers to rediscover the beauty of everyday life and regain confidence in the world around them. From the warmth of Keelung’s late-night fish market to the unhurried rhythm of Taitung’s old streets, and from the creative spirit of Taichung’s historic homes to the timeless aromas of Hsinchu’s traditional markets, these journeys were never about going farther or faster. They were about finding a place where the heart could simply come to rest.
